However, she would hold the office till attainment of 65 years of age, an official release said today.
Ganjoo was appointed first chairperson of the Commission set up under HP Private Educational Institutions (Regulatory Commission) Act in August 2011 and her three-year term was due to expire on August 4 next, it said.
Ganjoo, who retired as additional chief secretary in April 2011, would have 20 months tenure during her second term.
The Regulatory Commission was scrapped by the Himachal Pradesh High Court in October 2013 but was later revived by the Supreme Court in June this year.
