The Speaker of Himachal Pradesh Assembly, B B L Butail, today convened an all-party meeting for ensuring smooth conduct of the Monsoon Session beginning tomorrow.
The Speaker appealed to the members of both sides of the House to maintain decorum and raise the issues under relevant rules with the permission of the chair.
Opposition BJP members assured cooperation, but said that there should be no provocation from the Treasury benches and members should be given time to raise various issues of public interest.
The 24-day session would have 16 sittings and it would be longest the Monsoon Session ever in the history of Himachal Pradesh Assembly.
The BJP's participation was minimal during the budget session in February-March this year and it either boycotted the session or staged walkout.
Since the budget session was short and there were only 14 sittings, a longer monsoon session was required to meet the requirement of minimum 35 sittings during the calender year.
The session is likely to be a stormy one as BJP, buoyed by its spectacular victory in all four Lok Sabha seats of the state, has already indicated that it would adopt an aggressive posture to pin down the government on the issue of corruption and political vendetta let looses against the opponents by the government.
