HP: Thunder squalls cause sharp fall in mercury

Thunder squall hit several parts of Himachal Pradesh today causing a sharp fall in temperatures across the state, MeT officials said.
Day temperatures dropped from 43 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius at Una while Bhuntar and Nahan recorded a high of 36.8 degrees Celsius and 34.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
Sundernagar recorded 31.4 degrees Celsius, Solan 30.2 degrees Celsius, Kangra 28.2 degrees Celsius, Shimla 25 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 21.2 degrees Celsius and Manali 20 degrees Celsius.
Several areas experienced light rains, with Kangra and Manali recording 7 mm and 5.8 mm of rainfall respectively.
Kalpa recorded 2.6 mm of rainfall and Shimla and Keylong 2 mm each while Sundernagar, Dharamshala and Bhuntar had traces of rains.
Night temperatures stayed above the normal and Nahan recorded 24.5 degrees Celsius, Una 23.5 degrees Celsius and Mandi 20.1 degrees Celsius.

Dharamshala recorded 19 degrees Celsius, Shimla 18.8 degrees Celsius, Solan 17.5 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 17.4 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 13 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 8 degrees Celsius, Manali 7.2 degrees Celsius and Keylong 6.4 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has warned of thunder squall accompanied with hail at isolated places in the mid and low hills.
It has also predicted rains and snow at isolated places in the higher hills, and rains and thunderstorms at few places in the mid and low hills over the next six days.
