Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and the ruling Congress continued to trade charges against each other over the controversial land deal of the sports body and subsequent action by the state government.
A day after an HPCA spokesperson said that they had written to President Pranab Mukherjee seeking removal of Governor Urmila Singh over grant of prosecution sanction against former Chief Minister P K Dhumal, the Congress today hit back.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that the HPCA spokesperson should "see as to what is he and where he stands before speaking against the Governor".
"He is nothing but just a pawn acting on the advice of his 'aakas' (patrons), Anurag Thakur (HPCA president) and Dhumal and he should be ashamed of his action and must know that he is being utilised and used by Dhumals who don't have the courage to openly confront the government and are playing dirty politics from behind against the constitutional head of the state," the Chief Minister said.
Dubbing HPCA and its office-bearers "agents of BJP", the Chief Minister said their interference in state politics reflects that HPCA was not safe in their hands and a newly democratically elected body needs to be constituted.
"Making reckless statements against the Governor was insult of the constitutional office and Dhumal and his son (Anurag) needs to learn lessons in this regard," he said.

In a fresh attack on HPCA, vice-chairman of forest corporation Kewal singh Pathania today questioned why Dhumals and HPCA are "silent" on conversion of the sports body from a registered society to a limited company without the approval of the Registrar (Societies).
The HPCA functionaries are yelling that they are clean and trying to promote cricket but evading the basic question on how they allegedly grabbed the land in the name of HPCA, which is a registered society.
"Anurag and Dhumal should tell the public how hundreds of deodar trees were felled and destroyed overnight for building the cricket stadium," he said.
Meanwhile, the HPCA denied charges levelled against it. "...The HPCA has never deceived the authorities and public and such false charges will not hamper its commitment to provide a valued sports infrastructure to the people of Himachal," HPCA spokesman Sanjay Sharma said in a statement.
