Congress in Himachal came to the defence of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and rejected allegations against him by BJP leaders saying they were "politically motivated".
In a joint statement issued here today, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee today said the allegations were rejected by public who voted Singh to power for a record sixth time.
The party asked BJP leaders to quit if charges were proven against them as Singh had accepted the challenge to be probed for the allegations against him, and said the charges were politically motivated in order to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister.
The party also hit out at the opposition saying it was scared of defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and asked BJP leaders P K Dhumal and Anurag Thakur to face probe if they were clean as they claimed to be.
The joint statement was signed by HPCC President Sikhvinder Singh Sukhu, Vice-Presidents Chander Kumar, Kailash Prashar, Gangu Ram Musafir and Geeta Negi, General Secretaries Ajay Mahajan, Ravi Thakur, Spokespersons Kuldeep Pathania and Naresh Chauhan.
