HPGCL power stations gear up to meet power demand

The power stations of Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL) are fully geared up to meet the peak power demand of the state during summer.
The 300 MW unit-2 of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station (DCRTPP), Yamuna Nagar has successfully completed 134 days of continuous operation on April 25, breaking all previous records of continuous operation by HPGCL Thermal units, a spokesman of the HPGCL said here today.
He said the unit has performed exceptionally well during 2015-16 and has achieved best ever Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 78.12 per cent, Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC) of 8.66 per cent, Specific Oil Consumption (SOC) of 0.48ml/kwh and Heat Rate (HR) of 2328 Kcal/Kwh, during any financial year.
The Yamunanagar Power Plant has become a reliable source of power for Haryana.
The power plant as a whole has achieved a PLF of 77 per cent during financial year 2015-16, as against the national average of 62 per cent, he said.
He said the 300 MW Unit-2 would now be taken up under mini overhauling of 15 days from April 27, to make it ready for giving even better performance during the summer months when the demand for power peaks.
