Congress leaders including party's state chief Ashok Tanwar, CLP leader Kiran Chaudhary along with several party workers and Anand, who contested the Rajya Sabha polls independently, today arrived at sector -3 police station here to inquire about the status of the complaint filed last week.
They were informed that because of deployment of most of its police officials on VVIP duties, no action could be taken on the complaint.
Congress workers also staged a dharna outside the police station.
Anand, who was backed by Congress and INLD, in his complaint to Chandigarh's IGP T S Luthra, has levelled charges against BJP-backed winning independent candidate Subhash Chandra, BJP MLA from Ambala Aseem Goel, Independent MLA Jai Parkash and certain officials from the office of Returning Officer and other unknown persons.
He demanded that they be booked under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
