The Haryana government today filed a review petition in the Supreme Court, challenging its recent order on the SC/ST Act, a spokesman said.
"The state government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court to review the judgment given by the court on the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989," he said in a statement here.
Notably, several organisations, with the support of some political parties, had called a nationwide bandh earlier this month in protest against the apex court order.
The spokesman said the Centre had also filed a review petition on the issue "to safeguard the interests of the people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes".
"The state government has also filed a review petition in this regard through standing counsel B K Satija in the Supreme Court so that people belonging to these sections get relief," he said.
