In a major crackdown against illegal arms racket, the Special Task Force of the Haryana Police today unearthed two illegal arms factories running in Jind and Jhajjar districts.
Four persons were arrested in this connection and 25 country-made weapons, including rifle and pistols, were seized from them, a police spokesperson said here.
He said that Director General of Police B S Sandhu has congratulated Deputy Inspector General STF Sateesh Balan and his team for their significant achievement in busting the illegal arms racket.
The accused were identified as Deepak alias Golu of Hamidpur Delhi, Vinod alias Khema, Dilbagh alias Baba and Sunil alias Angoor, all residents of Bahrana village in Jhajjar, the spokesperson said.
"After getting a strong input about the illegal arms racket in these districts, two separate teams of the STF were constituted to conduct raids. Both teams conducted different raids at Vikas Nagar, Jind and at village Bahrana in Jhajjar and caught four accused, who were running the illegal arms factory. One accused Sonu managed to escape," he said.
Police has registered cases against the accused and they were interrogated, the spokesperson said, adding that further investigation was underway and efforts were on to arrest the fifth accused.
