This was stated by Chief Secretary, D S Dhesi, in a meeting with Ambassador of Israel, Daniel Carmon, who had called on him today.
During the meeting, Carmon invited Dhesi to a three-day exhibition on water technique to be organised in Israel from September 12 to 14, 2017, according to an official release here.
Dhesi said that it had been proposed to run five centres of excellence in the State with the assistance of Israel.
Of these, Centre of Excellence for Vegetables has been established in Gharaunda, district Karnal, Centre of Excellence for Fruits in Mangiana, district Sirsa and Centre of Excellence for Sub-Tropical Fruits in Ladwa, district Kurukshetra.
Dhesi said the state government was promoting horticulture and peri-urban agriculture would be promoted to avail the benefit of proximity to the National Capital Region.
He said the state government was taking special steps for the promotion of horticulture, under which Maharana Pratap Horticulture University has been established in village Anjansthali, district Karnal.
