HTC renews sponsor deal with NorthEast United FC

Taiwanese handset maker HTC today said it has renewed its agreement with Indian Super League team NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) and will be the principal sponsor of the football franchise for the third straight year.
In an official release, the company announced renewal of its association for the third consecutive year as principal sponsor with ISL football franchise NEUFC for 2016 season.
Commenting on the development, NEUFC Owner and Bollywood Actor John Abraham said: "I feel a strong connect with the brand's (HTC) focus on substance, style and innovation, which has enabled it to grow its connect with the youth and I hope we can have a long term association to bring about a resurgence in Indian football."
HTC President (South Asia) Faisal Siddiqui said, "The ISL has been successful in capturing the mind-share of the masses in India's cricket-dominated sports milieu. We are proud to be a part of this initiative to revolutionise Indian football. Our best wishes are with the team as they play at the inaugural match on their home ground Guwahati on October 1."
The championship, which is entering its third year, will kick off on October 1 and will culminate on December 18.
NEUFC has steady progress in the last few editions of the tournament and the team is looking forward to an exciting season with players like Marquee Didier Zokora who has played three World Cups, Lallianzuala Chhangte who is the second youngest goal-scorer for India in his debut game and goalkeeper Subrata Paul who is a recipient of Arjuna Award.
