Colonel Ajay Ahlawat, who is in police custody in connection with human trafficking racket busted in south Delhi's Safdarjung in July, will be confronted with main accused Pritindra Nath Sanyal, police said today.
Ahlawat, who was evading arrest since the racket was busted, surrendered in a court here yesterday and was remanded to three-day police custody.
"He has proved to be a 'tough nut' to crack and has not revealed anything so far. He will be now confronted with Sanyal," said a senior police officer.
Ahlawat, so far, has not given any information about his involvement in the racket and where he lived while avoiding arrest, he said, adding he surrendered before the court as efforts were on to get him declared a proclaimed offender in the case.
A case was registered against Sanyal and others at Safdarjung Enclave police station on July 20 after some document, indicating his involvement in the illegal activity, were found during raids by Income Tax department at his residences in Safdarjung Enclave.
A Russian woman, who was allegedly introduced to Sanyal by Ahlawat, was also rescued during the raid.
During the raid copies of passports of other foreign nationals as well as phone numbers of dozens of women from Central Asian countries were also recovered.
Ahlawat, who according to police was close associate of Sanyal, had joined the probe for a few days in July before going underground suspecting arrest.
