Humidity woes for Delhiites; mercury settles below 40-deg mark

It was a humid, uncomfortable day in the national capital today even though the mercury remained below the 40-degrees Celsius mark.
According to the MeT department, the day temperature at Safdarjung observatory, taken to be the official reading for the city, was recorded at 38.8 degrees, two notches above normal.
But it was the humidity which caused discomfort to Delhiites as it oscillated between 40 and 85 per cent.
At Palam, the maximum touched 40.7 degrees, while in the Ayanagar and Ridge areas, the mercury was at 40.2 and 39 degrees, respectively.
The city registered a minimum of 26.8 degrees, which was one notch below normal.
The maximum yesterday was recorded at 37 degrees while the minimum was at 28.6 degrees, both one notch above normal.
