After being "humiliated" by a UP Cabinet minister for allegedly not allotting ration shops to his kin against the rules, District Supply Officer (DSO) of Amroha went on leave and has threatened of taking retirement.
DSO Puranlal told reporters here today that Cabinet Minister Mehboob Ali was "pressurising" him to allot ration shops in the name of his kin.
The DSO alleged that the minister humiliated him after he expressed his inability to surpass the laid down procedure.
Meanwhile, all attempts to contact the minister failed as he did not take the calls.
"Minister Mehboob Ali was interested in getting four ration shops allotted in the names of his people in Zoya area of Amroha in an illegal manner," the DSO said here.
"The DSO has no right to do so, and when he (Ali) was told this he publicly misbehaved and humiliated me," Puranlal told newspersons here.

There is a certain process for allotment of ration shops which is done by the allotment committee headed by District Magistrate and DSO is only its secretary, yet the minister was pressurising for it, said Puranlal.
He said that after public humiliation, there is no relevance of continuing with the job and he has informed the District Magistrate about his leave till March 2014, and has come to his home district here.
The officer said that though he has informed his seniors about the incident on phone, he would not lodge a complaint as "he had no hope of getting any relief".
Puranlal said that he would take retirement and would spend time in prayers.
Ali is among the ministers of state who were elevated to Cabinet rank recently.
