"We appeal to parents to avoid sending their children to non-educational events (organised by the army) and steadfastly oppose any attempts to politicise the education," a Hurriyat spokesman said in a statement here.
He said Hurriyat is concerned over "increasing" and "unnecessary" interference of the army in educational institutions in Kashmir.
"Schools and colleges should be left alone and the students should be given opportunities that will allow them to concentrate on their careers," the statement said.
The separatist amalgam claimed several schools have received letters from a senior army officer asking them to ensure presence of at least 20 students from each school in a seminar to be held inside Badamibagh cantonment area.
