Chief of its moderate faction Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the resolution of Kashmir issue will help the two countries to reach a consensus on other outstanding issues like Sir Creek, Siachen, water and trade.
"Sincerity and seriousness is imperative for resolving all outstanding issues including Kashmir," the Mirwaiz said addressing a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid here.
He said the political leadership of the two countries needs to raise above mere statements and demonstrate "political farsightedness" and "maturity" and take "solid steps" to resolve Kashmir.
Reacting to Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit's statement that the peace process with India was "suspended", Hurriyat said unless India gives up its "unrealistic approach", the dialogue between the two countries will always be considered as a "time consuming exercise" and "no positive outcome" can be expected from it.
He said the key for peace, prosperity and development in the sub-continent lies in the resolution of Kashmir issue.
