Additional Sessions Judge Rajesh Kumar Goel absolved north-west Delhi residents Vijay Kumar, husband of Pooja, his parents and two brothers, who were charged with offences of subjecting the woman to cruelty (section 498A) and dowry death (section 304B) of the IPC.
"There are general allegations of demand for dowry. It has not been explained as to who, when and what article of property was demanded by the accused persons," the judge said while freeing the in-laws of Pooja who died after suffering 80 per cent burn injuries.
Pooja had married Kumar in 2005 and the couple had two daughters.
The victim's mother told the police that a day prior to the incident, Pooja and her husband had visited her and demanded money to buy a motorcycle for Kumar, the prosecution said, adding she paid Rs 20,000 for it.
