A case was registered against the husband and in-laws of a woman died under "mysterious circumstances" after suffering burn injuries at her husband's residence here last month.
The FIR was lodged yesterday on a complaint by the deceased woman Shalini Sharma's father, who lives in Gujarat, against her husband Muddassar, his father Muzaffar, mother Asgari and brothers Zafar and Shakeel.
Twenty two-year-old Shalini had married Mudassar against the wishes of her family and was living with him in Ramganj area here. On February 5, she was admitted with burn injuries to SMS hospital in Japiur where she died on February 10.
"She had married Muddassar few months back and died last month. When her father came to know about the incident recently, he lodged an FIR against the husband, her parents and brothers for abducting and killing his daughter," investigating officer Udaibhan said.
"Her in-laws said that she caught fire while cooking food," he said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
