A 28-year-old woman, her husband and their male relative drowned in a water-filled quarry at a village near here on Thursday morning, police said.
The incident occurred around 10 am at Sayyad Pimpri village, around 15 kms from Nashik, when the woman and her family members had gone to the quarry to wash clothes.
According to police, the woman slipped and fell into the quarry, after which her husband jumped into the water to save her. But as both of them could not come out, their nephew tried to rescue them. However, he also drowned along with the couple.
Bodies of all the three victims- Savita Varade, her husband Nandu Varade (30) and his nephew Keshav Varade (35)- were recovered and sent for post-mortem, police said.
A case of accidental death was registered at Nashik taluka police station.
