Hyd'bad police adopts crime prone locality

In order to deal with crime prone localities through friendly policing approach, the City Police today announced a project of adoption of 'MangarBasti' locality by Tukaramgate police station.

As part of the initiative, a total of 212 families of the area were being adopted by Hyderabad Police with the objectives of crime management, education and employment bridging, child and women safety and well-being.

The families will be adopted for a period of one year and if required till further keeping in view these objectives, officials said.

Improvement would be targetted, planned, implemented and assessed during this period in the areas of 'crime and unemployment', 'children and students education and well-being' and 'health' sectors, they said.

Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said 'MangarBasti' "is identified by Hyderabad Police as a focus area as a part of our long term strategy to deal with crime prone localities".

Adoption cards will be issued to each family addressing a Mentor of the rank of constable, Super Mentor of the rank of head constable/Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police and a facilitator representing from NGO.

As part of the project, it was also aimed at reducing/minimising dropouts from schools and to provide assistance for higher education besides formulating programmes including organising education guidance and employment generation events.

Kumar inaugurated a learning centre which will be the epicentre for the entire activity for a year, a medical camp and also an employment mela.
