Security has been stepped up in Hyderabad following a bomb blast in Bengaluru in which a woman was killed and three others got injured.
"Following the last night's incident in Bengaluru, we have alerted everybody. We are vigilant. We are ensuring that checking and other security measures are stepped up. We are monitoring the activities," Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma told reporters.
There was no specific terror alert for Hyderabad, he said to a question.
Asked if any security guidelines were issued to schools here after the Peshawar school massacre in Pakistan, Sharma said, "We are trying to sensitise all the schools to be careful and (telling them) do not let outsiders enter."
"It is definitely not possible to provide a policeman or armed policeman to guard every school in the city. So, need-based and information-based (provision of security) and sensitisation the people, this kind of protection we are trying to envisage," he said.
Asked if any security alert has been issued ahead of New Year, he said police were vigilant, and even otherwise the entire force is on a stand-by during the New Year celebrations.
"We have already been keeping our teams (armed interceptor teams in vehicles) at vulnerable points, to react immediately to any such (emergency) situation.
