Hyundai gets past 70 lakh production milestone

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today crossed the 70 lakh production milestone, within 18 years of rolling out its first vehicle in the country.
The company's manufacturing facility at Sriperumpudur near Chennai today rolled out the seven millionth vehicle-- a top variant of its sports utility vehicle Creta.
"HMIL has always set new benchmarks in terms of quality and customer delight by introducing new products with new technology and design to the Indian market, demonstrating superior manufacturing prowess," HMIL Managing Director and CEO Y K Koo said in a statement.
The company's 'Made in India' products have impressed global and Indian customers alike, he added.
"We now have to move to realise our visionas announced during our 20th year of foundation on May 6, 2016, of being the market leader, great place to work, most loved and trusted brandwith modern premium brand essence to touch 10 million units within the first half of 2021," Koo said.
Hyundai had rolled out its first million car, a Santro, in 2006 just eight years after commencement ofcommercial production in 1998.

Thereafter, production picked up momentum, with the next million milestone being achieved within an average of 18-19 months.
The five millionth car was flagged off in October 2013 by the company's brand ambassador Shahrukh Khan.
The maker of Grand i10 and Creta, has held the top automobile exporter position consistently for the past 12 years since 2004 with having dispatched 24,64,723 units till date to overseas locations.
