"I am innocent. I have not done anything wrong. I am suffering for no fault of mine. I hope death does not come to me until I prove my innocence," a senior NCP leader quoted Bhujbal as telling his party colleagues.
Bhujbal (69), facing the charge of money laundering, was recently allowed by a special PMLA court here to exercise his franchise in the election.
He is further reported to have said that "except cancer, I have been suffering from a wide range of ailments".
Bhujbal, wearing white clothes and wrapping a white shawl around his neck, was given support by the NCP workers and Vidhan Bhavan staff to get down from the vehicle.
He met the NCP Group Leader Ajit Pawar while returning after exercising his franchise. He spoke with Pawar and other party leaders.
