The 27-year-old "Hasee Toh Phasee" star used to be adored for her plump figure but Parineeti said she wanted to have "better stamina" and hence worked out to shed the extra kilos.
"That (criticism) is absolutely bizarre. Being thin is a different thing, I wanted to have better stamina and control over my body... I am not endorsing being thin, I am endorsing being your fittest self," the actress told reporters at the red carpet of Stardust Awards here.
"It's good because ever since I've become an actress people used to talk about my weight in a different way. I wanted to work on my body and I got 6-8 months to work on it. I am glad results are showing."
The actress was last seen in the 2014 dud "Kill Dil".
