The 19-year-old singer, who underwent therapy for anorexia, bulimia and a cutting disorder, said that every day presents a challenge and that she often has to ask for help, reported Daily Mail online.
"It is a daily thing; you don't get time off from it. And if I feel myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own," she said.
Lovato has also confessed to using cocaine to help her cope with the loneliness after coming off stage.
The singer went into rehab after attacking a back up dancer on a Jonas Brothers tour she believed had tipped off organisers about her personal issues.
The singer said it was a relief when her self-harming became public knowledge, as it led to her being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
"I felt relieved when I found out. Like I am not completely crazy; there is a medical reason for all of it," she added.
