I&B Secy to meet FTII students, film and TV professionals on

Information and Broadcasting secretary Sunil Arora would be meeting with students of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and professionals from film and television industry in Mumbai on December 9 to discuss various issues related to the prestigious institute.
A statement released by the ministry said that Arora met a delegation comprising Dharam Gulati and Rajiv Kamal, both alumnus of FTII and current Film and Television professionals (collectively known as GraFTII) yesterday.
During this meeting the issue of making the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) as the Institute of National Importance and other related issues were discussed, the statement said.

"After discussions it was decided that Secretary I&B will meet the larger delegation of the GraFTII and representatives of FTII in Films Division, Mumbai on December 9th, 2015 at 11.00 AM to work out the way forward to address the issues," the statement added.
Arora has earlier also held discussions with FTII students in the past, who have been protesting the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the institute's head.
In the statement released today, the ministry said that Aruna Raje, a senior member of GraFTII had been associated all along during several interactions held with students of FTII at different levels in Delhi and Mumbai.

Ministry officials said they were keen that all issues are resolved and the Institute scales greater heights.
They cited the three recent appointments to the FTII society - Satish Shah, Bhawana Somaaya and B P Singh and pointed out that they are eminent names, with formidable artistic credentials.
This is in line with the ministry's positive approach towards this important institution, officials said.
