The 45-year-old musician is an ardent fan of the Beatles rocker, who was shot outside his Manhattan apartment in 1980.
"(He's my) spiritual guide. I do believe he's here. I do believe that he's looking out for me," Gallagher tells Rolling Stone magazine, who also named his eldest son, Lennon, 18, after him.
When speaking about the suicides of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington, the "Wall of Glass" hitmaker draws a reference to Lennon, saying it is difficult for him to understand why people kill musicians.
The singer also reveals Lennon's wife and artiste Yoko Ono had invited him to visit the house she had lived in with the musician from 1973 until his death.
