Low cost carrier SpiceJet is offering 100 per cent discount on base fare on all domestic routes for defence personnel.
"The offer begins on August 15 and the booking of tickets under this scheme will remain open till August 31. The tickets booked under this special offer would be valid for travel from August 15 to September 30," an airline spokesperson said.
The facility is for the serving as well as retired personnel of armed forces, paramilitary personnel and their families.
Not wanting to be left behind on the occasion, foreign airlines have also come up with heavy discounts for those travelling to Europe and North America.

"The four-day special offer starts on August 15 and continue till August 18 for outbound travel between September 1 and December 20," an airline spokesperson said.
British Airways South Asia Regional Commercial Manager Christopher Fordyce said, "This year marks our 84th year of flying to India and we are proud to be sharing such a long legacy with this great country."
British Airways (then Imperial Airways) would showcase some of the iconic photographs from its heritage collection on the occasion.
The offer is for those flying to Europe from India. To avail the offer, fliers would have to book the tickets on August 14 and 15 to Europe and complete travel between October 1 and December 31, a spokesperson said.
Earlier, Jet Airways and Air India had announced discounted tickets for domestic and international travellers.
