'Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani' was the 23-year-old's debut on the small screen and he was slammed for his acting. But Dsena says that this didn't discourage him and he worked on his acting abilities.
"I don't mind accepting the fact that I wasn't good before because I was new to the industry but over the years I have learned from my mistakes. I wasn't discouraged with all the negativity but wanted to work on my skills," Dsena, who is playing the lead in the new Colors show "Madhubala", told PTI.
"I was the last person to be called to audition for 'Madhubala' and I believe I was lucky to get the part. The producers thought I would suit the role and realised that now I can act also," he added.
The serial stars 'Geet' actress Drashti Dhami in the lead and is a tribute to the completion of 100 years of Hindi cinema.
Dsena will be seen portraying the role of a superstar in the show. The actor has also denied rumours suggesting that his character is inspired by veteran star Dilip Kumar.
"I play the role of RK, he is a superstar. He is famous for being famous and he has a certain attitude and he knows what he is. My character has no resemblance to Dilip Kumar because I don't have enough potential to play him. My character is not even inspired by Dilip ji," he said.
"Madhubala" - also starring Raj Zutshi, Sushmita Mukherjee, Shagufta Ali and Lalit Parimoo - is going on air tomorrow.
Dsena, who recently got engaged to his co-star Vahbiz Dorabjee from the show 'Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani', said he wants to settle down soon.
