Padma Lakshmi is a model, actress, author and a recurring host of "Top Chef" but she feels in the US, she gets way too much attention for her career by the paparazzi which at times gets quite "dangerous and obnoxious".
Lakshmi says it is quite a task to deal with photographers on a daily basis as they try and click pictures of not only her but also the model's family including her six-year-old daughter, Krishna.
"You try to shield your family from it, I have signed up to be in the industry. Those close to me are very private people. I don't face it nearly as bad as many people who are in the limelight. I just have a TV show, a food show.
"I somehow manage to get way more attention than I should for my career. But if you are really a movie star it can be obnoxious. I have friends in that situations, its almost dangerous," Lakshmi told reporters on the sidelines of Lakme Fashion Week during which she walked the ramp for her friend, designer Tarun Tahiliani.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who has been enjoying a flourishing career in the US, had also said that the paparazzi culture in the West is too much to take in.
Meanwhile, Lakshmi, 46, says photographers in India are respectful and asked if they can take pictures but in the US it is a different story and celebrities from India may find it shocking.
"When someone from India goes to the US it can be quite a shock. I would imagine that somebody like Priyanka Chopra coming from this to that culture, she would be used to a lot of attention but it is not on the same level at all.

"Here I am able to move freely, people are respectful, they ask for pictures most of the time. In New York, it is pretty unbearable."
Lakshmi says because of the notorious paparazzi many celebrities in Hollywood are lobbying the Congress to make laws against it.
"It has gotten so bad that we have had some of our actresses go in and lobby Congress to make laws. Especially for our children. I want Krishna to have a normal life. If she wants to be in the limelight when she grows up it will be her choice," she said.
