Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today said he had to act tough as some people were thinking that he and the BJP are "cowards" by criticising his government.
"Some people were thinking this Government and the Chief Minister are cowards. So they were talking anything and thought no one would act against them," he said.
"There is a limit to everything. BJP acts as a team. I may be the Chief Minister but that does not mean I take all decisions," Parsekar said referring to statements made by MGP Ministers Sudin Dhavalikar and Dipak Dhavalikar against him and his Government, and their subsequent sacking from the Cabinet last night.
"It may be my prerogative to induct or sack a Minister but when it comes to taking decisions with far reaching consequences we go by consensus because takes time to build," Parsekar said addressing 'Vijay Sankalp' rally at Parra village near here.
"The delay (in making decisions) does not mean BJP is coward. BJP is a party with spine. BJP is a party of cadres. Several workers were messaging me questioning my silence (after criticism of his Government by the Dhavalikars. Our own Minister were criticising us. Since last night I have been receiving congratulatory messages," he added.
