Top seed Wawrinka scored a clinical 7-5 6-2 win over French Edouard Roger-Vasselin to win hiss second Chennai Open title, here.
His previous wins came in Umag (2006), Casablanca (2010), Chennai (2011) and Oeiras (2013).
"Every win is special. I don't have so many victories," Wawrinka said when asked how he would compare his 2011 title with today's win.
"This final here today has given me my best start for the year," he added.

Wawrinka said he has been playing aggressive tennis now, "but I feel I can still improve every aspect of my tennis. I can improve my serve. I am serving up and down now."
Asked what goals he has set for himself for 2014, Wawrinka said there was no particular goal for him as such.
"I know I can play better. But it's tough to improve your rankings. They all (top-10 players) play very good tennis these days," he observed.
