Cowell, 54, took to Twitter to clear the speculation about One Direction's future and said he just made a guess about the band and it should not be taken seriously, reported Digital Spy.
"Just to clear up the rumours it is my guess and my hope One D will stay together for a very long time (sic)," Cowell wrote on his official page.
"The boys are having the best time. And as I said recently their new album is really really good," he added.
Later, the band came up with its first album Up All Night (2011), followed by Take Me Home (2012) and Midnight Memories, last year.
