I-T dept writes to CoP complaining about AIADMK ministers
Press Trust of India Chennai The Income Tax department has written to Chennai Police Commissioner Karan Singh against three AIADMK ministers for not allowing its officers to perform their duties when searches were conducted last week, sources said today.
"Yes, it is true. A letter has been sent to him (Commissioner of Police)," a senior I-T official told PTI.
He claimed the three ministers did not allow I-T officers to perform their duty during searches last week at the official residence of Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar here.
He further claimed that the ministers barged into the residence to 'obstruct' the I-T officials from conducting the searches.
The searches on the premises of Vijayabhaskar had allegedly revealed routing of Rs 89 crore for "distribution among voters" in R K Nagar Assembly constituency, where the bypoll scheduled for April 12 was cancelled over charges of use of money power.
