I-T raid on premises of packaging products manufacturer

Income Tax department today carried out raids at 15 places of a firm engaged in manufacturing of packaging products in Indore, Pithampur in adjoining Dhar district and Mumbai.
The raids were carried out on suspicion that the company was indulging in tax evasion, officials said.
"District unit of investigation wing of IT raided the company's Mumbai based registered office and factory premises at Pithampur. Besides, the company's corporate office and places of directors were searched here," an IT top official said.
During raids, incriminating documents, hard disc of computers and laptop have been seized, he said, adding, that these will be being examined threadbare.

He said that I-T officials will need a couple of days to complete the probe.
The official said that 125 I-T officers and 80 policemen carried out the raids.
