The Income Tax Department here has launched a survey of the premises of a few jewellers to verify their stock and records after a consignment of gold and silver jewellery arrived here as air cargo yesterday.
The consignment belongs to nearly 60 jewellers, who displayed these items at a recent jewellery show in Mumbai.
The I-T Department took the consignment under its possession after it arrived yesterday and launched the survey.
"We are verifying the records of a few jewellers to check whether the jewellery items are part of their record. No seizure has been made," a senior official of the told PTI today.
He said the total weight of the consignment was a few tonnes.
"We are calculating the actual weight of the jewellery items," he said.
