The actress says there was not much scope for good roles in films those days and wishes she had made her debut now as she is impressed by how parts are being written especially for women.
"I wish I had made my debut now. If that would have happened then I would have been somewhere else. Especially because of the roles that are being written for women. Today women are not just an accessory," Ritu told PTI.
"Today, actresses are one of the pillars of the show or a movie. It was not like this when I was doing films, women were just someone to be wooed and for singing and dancing."
Ritu did a handful of films in the '90s before settling down to raise a family. She may have missed her chance on the big screen but she is very upbeat about her second innings on the small screen - first with Anil Kapoor's "24" and now "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3".
