Jammu: Retired IAS officer and former Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Services Selection Board B D Bhagat today joined the National Conference. Bhagat joined NC in presence of Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and Minister for Higher Education Mohammed Akbar Lone besides senior party leaders at Party headquarters in Jammu. Rana exuded confidence that Bhagat's joining will further strengthen the party and help in serving the people with a missionary zeal. He recalled the contribution of Bhagat as an upright civil servant and said integrity has remained hallmark of his service career. Lone also welcomed Bhagat to the larger NC family. ________________________ FESTIVAL Jammu: As many as 40,000 stamps would be put on display during the first of its kind exhibition in the border district of Rajouri, to be organised by the Department of Posts from tomorrow. The two-day event will also feature the release of two special covers on 'Chingus Fort' and 'Poonch Fort', situated in twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch respectively. "Department of Posts is organising Post Office Festival and Philately Exhibition in the border district of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. This is for the first time in the history of Rajouri that Department of Posts is organising a Post Office Festival," Chief Postmaster General, J&K, John Samuel, told reporters here today. "40,000 stamps would be put on exhibition and schools will also be involved in the event. The aim is to bring people closer to Post Office," he said. "In Poonch district the department will launch 'I love My Post Office Campaign' on February 22, which will be followed by letter writing competition and stamp designing contest for school children," he said. Samuel also ensured that the post office in Poonch will be "modernised" and said over one crore rupees has been invested to modernise post offices across the state. "We have been witnessing considerable growth. Our revenue has increased by nearly 35 per cent over the last year. J&K circle ranks number one on revenue growth ," he said.
