IAS officer involved in wealth case suspended

Kerala government today suspended senior IAS officer and Public Works Department Secretary T O Sooraj, who is facing vigilance case for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala have signed the file in this regard, sources at the Home Minister's office said here.
Vigilance officials had seized cash and documents during raids at the residences and office of Sooraj at Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on November 19 in connection with a case of allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to known sources of income.
Sooraj, who started his career as an officer at the state Forest Department was made IAS in 1999. An FIR has been registered against him at the Thrissur Vigilance Court.
Chennithala had stated yesterday that the case against Sooraj was based on clear evidences and there was no politics in it.
