A 6-year-old girl with a disfigured nose found a saviour in Thane civic chief Sanjeev Jaiswal, who today announced to bear the medical expenses for treating the girl.
Jaiswal, an IAS officer, spotted Aahana with a disfigured nose who was sitting among other kids at a programme organised by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
Aahana is a first standard student of the civic school number 54 at Manpada.
Jaiswal was disturbed seeing Aahana. He went to the girl and enquired about her disfigured nose, a TMC release said.
The Commissioner learnt that a rat had bit off the girl's nose while she was asleep in her house, leaving it disfigured.
The girl's parents were unable to afford her medical treatment. Jaiswal announced that he will bear all the medical expenses in his personal capacity for the plastic surgery, it said.
Jaiswal also said that he will remain present at the time of the surgery, it added.
