IAS officers association demands CBI probe in D K Ravi's death

The probe into the death of IAS officer D K Ravi in Karnataka under mysterious circumstances need to be handed over to the CBI, the central IAS officers association demanded today.
"To set all the controversies to rest now, it is necessary to handover the investigation to CBI, so that an independent agency conducts a thorough scientific investigation and comes out with the real cause of death.
"This would remove the doubt in the minds of the parents, wife, In-laws, the public at large and the service (IAS officers) colleagues," the association said in its resolution.
The 4619-strong member association of IAS officers working across the country, said it is resolved after due deliberations on the issue that it should request both Government of India and the Government of Karnataka to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation at the earliest.

"We will be sending our resolution to Cabinet Secretary here and Chief Secretary of Karnataka. The association has resolved that the CBI probe needs to be done in the matter," association's secretary and senior IAS officer Sanjay R Bhoosreddy told PTI.
The resolution said that the parents, wife and in-laws have lost faith in the investigation done so far by the state machinery because it is prejudging the cause of death even before completing investigation.

"The parents, wife, in-laws, service colleagues and others who had been in touch with Ravi are continuously stating from day one that Ravi is not a weak person who would end his life by committing suicide.

"They are stating that Ravi was taking action against powerful persons and was trying to ensure compliance to rule of law, and therefore, there is need to conduct investigation by an independent agency that could work out of local influence," the association said.
Expressing its deep regrets and condolences to the family on the sudden demise of Ravi, it said the officer was known for his sincerity, compassion, integrity, bravery and positive approach in discharging public duties.
Ravi, a 2009 batch IAS officer, who had taken on the sand mafia in Karnataka was found dead in mysterious circumstances on Monday at his residence in Bengaluru. He was holding the charge of Additional Commissioner, Commercial Tax (Enforcement).
