The first match of the Indian Badminton League (IBL) in the maximum city turned out to be an ordeal for the accredited journalists covering the event with the organisers being clueless about the arrangement of basic facilities for the media.
The journalists were asked to wait outside the venue for more than an hour as the media tribune was being set up and the media manager told the waiting scribes that they were not invited and the match started only at 8 pm.
Basic necessity like water was not allowed inside the National Sports Club of India stadium that is also set to host the finals of the IBL on August 31.
"It is the NSCI club policy that no eatables or water is allowed inside. VIPs are also not allowed to carry water inside the stadium. If you want to drink water, you need to go outside, " venue manager Sanket Shetty said.
After a lot of persuasion, the media was allowed to have a bottle of water.
The media was in large number as at 4 pm there was an interaction with the members of the Mumbai Masters team at the same venue.
