ICAR, AMFU ink MoU to provide agro-advisory service to Mizo

The Indian Council of Agriculture and Research (ICAR) and All Mizoram Farmers' Union (AMFU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Aizawl on providing agro-advisory service to the farmers in the state.
AMFU leaders said under the MoU, farmers would be provided information on weather forecasts, application of fertilisers and insecticides and also medicine for domestic animals through mobile phone SMS in Mizo language.
The leaders said the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) would be involved in providing the weather forecast information.
They said 10,000 farmers would be covered at the initial stage, while efforts would be made to cover all farmers in the state soon.
The MoU was inked by ICAR Joint Director Dr S B Singh and AMFU general secretary Zion Lalremruata.
