Two motorcycle-borne persons allegedly snatched the ID card of a woman assistant commandant of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) here, the police said today.
The incident was reported from Safdarjung Enclave in south Delhi yesterday.
Nidhi Gupta is posted at the regional headquarters of the ICG in Kolkata. She had come to Delhi to celebrate Rakshabandhan at her grandmother's place.
While she was standing outside the house, two bike-borne men, wearing helmets, tried to snatch her chain, she claimed in her police complaint.
She said that they could not snatch her chain but took away her ID card that she was wearing at that time, said a senior police officer.
The police have registed a case and are scanning the CCTV footages from the area to gain clues to the accused. Since the incident happened ahead of Independence Day, the police are worried that the card might be misused.
