"We don't have any fixed target to open number of offices but we are looking to have our presence in places that have potential to develop electronic system design and manufacturing ecosystem. We are planning an office in Pune in the next two months," IESA Chairman K Krishna Moorthy told PTI.
India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) today opened its second office in Chennai where companies like Flextronics, Motorola, Foxconn, Samsung, Cisco, Sanmina, and Dell have their manufacturing facility. The industry body has its headquarters in Bangalore.
Chennai is known as the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) hub of India with the EMS Corridor stretching from Sriperumbudur to Oragadam.
"Today, close to 40 per cent of electronics for the automotive industry is supported from Tamil Nadu alone. IESA is highly inclined towards the achievement of this objective and is striving towards building support for the companies across states like Tamil Nadu to promote conducive manufacturing of products for global markets," IESA President MN Vidyashankar said.
"We work out ways we can include local academia in to the whole ecosystem. We are seeing good initiatives that are being taken by the Andhra Pradesh government. We will look at setting up an office in AP too," Moorthy said.
