Goa government today removed a top official from his post in the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) that hosts International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the state.
BJP legislator Vishnu Wagh, the vice chairman of ESG - a state government run body - was today replaced with former party legislator Damodar Naik.
The notification comes two months after ESG successfully hosted IFFI 2013, a ten-day long event of the international films.
Wagh was heading various committees that organised the festival in Panaji between November 20 and 30 last year.
The Goa government in a notification today cancelled the appointment of Wagh as the vice chairman of ESG and also chairman of Kala Academy - another state run cultural body.
The sudden removal came a day after Wagh publicly rebelled against Manohar Parrikar-led government, opposing its policy on medium of instruction (MoI) in elementary education.

Wagh had joined a group which heralded protests against the government on MoI policy, that gives grants to the schools in English medium.
The BJP legislator had challenged the party yesterday to take action against him and expel him.
Goa Congress unit president John Fernandes had recently said at a press conference that Wagh was being considered as a candidate for the Lok Sabha polls from North Goa seat.
Wagh had rubbished the rumours stating that he is still a BJP MLA.
When contacted, Wagh was not available for comment.
