'Shab' actor Arpita Chatterjee, who continues to be in admiration for Onir, says her upcoming Bengali film 'Bodhan', a winner in many festivals, will also talk about a woman of substance.
"Bodhon, which very recently got laurels at the North Carolina film festival, talks about the self realization of a woman who evolves into a mother from a daughter. But there can't be any comparison with Shab," Raja Sen's 'Laboratory' protagonist, based on a Tagore short story, told PTI here.
Terming 'Bodhon' as the tale of a woman who overcomes mindset, perception and never gets bogged down by crisis, Arpita said 99 per cent of women will relate to the theme.
Her all India release Shab, where she again essayed the dominant role of a woman, was a city-centric love story.
The crux of the matter is our audiences now go to watch women centric films, the process had started from Rekha's 'Khoon Bhari Mang,,' but there was a break. The phase has now come up in full splendour for past few years, Arpita says.
Arpita, who was talking to PTI after unveiling five designs of diamond jewelleries of a leading brand, said the new trend of brands like Senco Gold promoting new age Bengali films will help Tollywood churning out more content-rich films.
