The organisers of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) have proposed to curtail the event by two days to make it an eight-day-long affair, a senior official said today.
"The Directorate of Film Festival (DFF) has submitted a proposal to Goa government that IFFI should be curtailed by two days making it only a eight day-long event," Damodar Naik, Vice Chairman, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) told PTI.
ESG is a nodal agency, which has been hosting the festival in Goa since 2004 on behalf of the state government.
Naik said the proposal is still in discussion stage and the final call would be taken during a meeting with DFF officials, scheduled in the first week of July.
Annually, IFFI is held between November 20-30 in Panaji.
"The organisers feel that it is being unnecessarily dragged. They want to reduce it so that entire films can be packaged in better way," Naik said.
If the decision is taken, the last two days of the festival would be curtailed, he said.
IFFI was shifted to Goa from Delhi in 2004 by then state's Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
