Inspector General Paramesh Sivamani today assumed command of the Indian Coast Guard Region (East), replacing Rajan Bargotra.
Sivamani, who has served in various sea and shore appointments during a career span of 29 years, took charge at a ceremonial parade held at the Coast Guard Air Station here, a PIB (Defence) release said.
Sivamani has served in various capacities at sea, "the prominent amongst them being Command of Indian Coast Guard Ships Avvaiyar, Vishwast and Samar," it said.
According to the release, Bargotra is proceeding to Kolkata as Commander Coast Guard Region (North East) on permanent transfer.
During his tenure, Coast Guard Region (East) "saw a massive expansion with addition of new assets, infrastructure development and innumerable life-saving operations,", the release added.
