Hose who have completed Post Graduation in Psychology/Social Work/Nursing or a medical graduate in any of the medicine fields - Allopathy, Homoeopathy, Ayurvedic, Unani, Siddha can take up the course.
"The objective of the programme is to build capacity through training of personnel working in the field to take care of the pressing need of the society addressing the mental health and well-being of the people," IGNOU programme co- ordinator Swati Patra said in a release.
The programme would help address the mental health requirements of people in view of shortage of trained mental health personnel in India, she added.
The courses covered under the programme range from Fundamentals of Mental Health, Mental Disorders to Services for the mentally ill.
The last date to apply for the programme is 18 August 2017 through online admission procedure of the University, the release said.
